In this event, I was invited by the curator Victoria Burlaka to the position of coordinator. My responsibility was to prepare locations, logistics and accommodation for artists, providing artists with materials, control of installation work and dismantling, documentation and reporting.
Also, within the framework of this project, I have created an audio guide of the visual program.
The concept of the visual program:
Warm touch
Hands, hands reaching out to each other - there will be many of them in this project. Everything to man
it is necessary - it is a warm friendly touch and hope for the future. The touch is not burning, namely
the desired degree. Support of others - near and far. Overcoming your own children
and adult injuries, the main of which, unfortunately, is now the trauma of war, which is already quite deep
rooted in our consciousness. Trying not to think about it is not the way out. The way out is to give free rein
your pain and find those who feel the same way and support you. Trivial things - ability
to empathy and compassion - are the most important. But are they already so banal?
Rather, they are scarce - we often turn a blind eye to someone else's pain. Psychologists believe
distance from other people's problems as one of the protective mechanisms that help in the fight
for survival. But I'm tired of fighting and surviving and putting up with indifference. We live in
days of distancing and "correct" construction of frameworks and borders, so that, God forbid, no
to injure oneself or others - Schopenhauer's parable of a herd of porcupines who want
warm up and hurt each other, our everything. The principle of interaction is not to get too close
close, do not worry, hear, do not see, do not understand - in extreme conditions does not work ...
Group project of the School of Contemporary Art for the visual program of Gogolfest
Mariupol was formed not as a task on a given topic, but in the mode of testing pain
points in a broad sense - and each of the participants, and society as a whole. I wanted to get
a certain slice of the urgency we breathe here-and-now. He turned out to be enough
predictable - first, it was impossible to abstract from the historical crisis
moment. And, secondly, it is such difficult times that bring people together, bring out the problem of warmth
touch to the foreground. In addition, the practice of contemporary art is a kind of therapy for
overcoming alienation. Art connects torn threads of compassion, repairs the mutilated
mechanisms of human communication. Live touch, not comments on social media,
internal resonance in the circle of friends - like-minded people, viewers, colleagues, sympathizers - this is the most valuable
from what the artist gets…
